At just 23, food technologist Palak Arora launched Millium under the umbrella of SatGuru
Superfoods — a brand that transforms humble millets into nutritious, ready-to-cook meals.
Her startup not only champions healthy eating but also uplifts local farmers and reintroduces
traditional grains in a modern, convenient format.
How a Family Health Crisis Sparked an Idea
The journey began when Palak’s father suffered from serious health issues linked to poor
dietary habits. Determined to help, she turned to her knowledge in food technology and
realized the untapped potential of millets — naturally gluten-free, rich in fiber, and highly
nutritious. This inspired her to create healthy mixes that were both easy to cook and good for
the body
How Palak Built a Millet Brand from Her Terrace
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Palak started experimenting on her terrace in Faridabad.
With basic equipment like solar dryers and pulverizers, she began creating millet mixes from
scratch. These included sprouted millets, lentils, and dehydrated vegetables — all processed
without preservatives or chemicals.
Her vision was simple: offer balanced meals that could be cooked in under 10 minutes,
helping busy people eat better without compromising on nutrition.
How Millium Supports Farmers and Sustainable Practices
Palak sources her millets directly from local farmers instead of going through middlemen. This approach ensures fair pricing for growers and supports sustainable farming practices. By doing so, Millium contributes to rural livelihoods and encourages millet cultivation, which is also eco-friendly and drought-resistant.
How the Brand Grew Organically
In July 2022, Palak introduced Millium’s first line of products, including cheela mix, idli mix, and millet pasta. She received a positive response at millet food fests, farmers’ markets, and through WhatsApp orders. As demand increased, she moved production from her terrace to a dedicated manufacturing unit by 2024.
How Millium Makes Healthy Eating Quick & Easy
Today, Millium offers over 15 millet-based mixes like noodles, pancakes, pulao, and porridge. Each is designed to be cooked in less than 10 minutes, making healthy eating simple and accessible for people of all ages. The products are made without artificial additives or preservatives and cater to both taste and health.
How Tradition Meets Innovation
Millium blends ancient grains with modern lifestyles. The startup has reimagined millet consumption by introducing products that retain the traditional value of millets while appealing to today’s health-conscious, time-strapped consumers.
How One Young Founder is Driving Change
From a small home setup to a growing millet-based food brand, Palak’s journey is proof that innovation doesn’t require a big budget — just a clear mission. By focusing on health, sustainability, and convenience, she’s carving out a space for millets in India’s fast-growing health food market.
