At just 23 years old, Vijay Pratap Singh made a bold move—he left a stable banking job to
chase his dream of building an adventure tourism company. Today, his Dehradun-based startup,
AdvenThrill, generates over ₹10 crore in revenue and offers treks, outdoor learning experiences,
and customized adventures across India.
Humble Beginnings in Nature
● Small-town Roots: Vijay grew up in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, and studied in a
Hindi-medium school.
● Move to Dehradun: In 2005, his family shifted to Dehradun, surrounded by hills and
forests. This natural setting sparked his love for the outdoors.
● Tech and Corporate Life: He completed his B.Tech in IT and landed a job at HCL in
Hyderabad. But city life didn’t suit him. He found himself disconnected from urban chaos
and started exploring forests and wildlife photography on weekends.
The Shift from Banking to Business
● MBA and Banking Role: After earning an MBA in International Business, Vijay joined
Kotak Mahindra Bank in Pune. This gave him valuable business exposure.
● A Business Idea Takes Shape: While working at the bank, he dreamed of launching a
trekking company. He wanted to combine education, leadership, and adventure into one
experience.
● The Birth of AdvenThrill: Vijay created a website and social media handles with help
from friends. He started small, doing everything himself and gradually building a support
team.
Facing Challenges and Growing Steadily
● Gaining Trust: With a strong focus on safety and local connections, AdvenThrill earned
positive word-of-mouth. His approach to guided treks focused not just on thrill, but also
on learning and leadership.
● COVID Pivot: When the pandemic hit and travel paused, Vijay launched virtual
marathons. People participated from home and shared results online—keeping the spirit
of adventure alive.
Safety and Inclusion First
● First Big Trek: Vijay’s initial trek to Chopta–Tungnath with a group of medical students
taught him a lot about planning, logistics, and leadership.
● Training Matters: He completed a certified mountaineering course and built a team that
includes ex-Army personnel trained in rescue, first aid, and mountain safety.
● Accessible Adventure: In 2024, Vijay organized a special trek for visually impaired
football players, customizing every detail to make the experience safe and empowering.
Behind the Business
● Legal and Operational Setup: AdvenThrill is a registered private limited company, adding
credibility and allowing smooth operations.
● Team Structure: The business runs with a core team of 10 and a flexible pool of
freelancers and guides, depending on the size of the trekking group.
● Customer-Centric Approach: From itinerary planning to on-ground execution, the team
ensures high safety standards and memorable experiences.
Why This Story Stands Out
● Follow Your Passion: Vijay’s journey proves that it’s never too early—or too risky—to
chase a dream, especially when it’s backed by purpose.
● Plan Smart, Then Leap: He didn’t quit blindly. He planned his transition, built systems,
and studied the market.
● Be Adaptable: His switch to virtual events during the pandemic shows the power of
innovation.
● Put Safety First: Trained professionals and inclusive experiences built customer trust
and brand loyalty
